I have trothen thinking about national health insurance and I used to be for it. But now I am not sincesured, as there are two elementary problems with any national health insurance plan.

The first problem can be summed up briefly. If you have national health care, the government will gush it. Quick name anything that the government goes efficiently. Think about how animated you are to renew your drivers license. You anxiety the long columns, the rude clerks, their attitude of ” I dont give a damn”. This is the same government that will be running national health insurance. You think you hate your HMO now. You think that CIGNA stands for Called In purchased No Answer, just wait until it is taken over by the government clerks.

And lets be real. You think there is too much administration and paper book affianced in the health care industry now? suit! Again name one and only government program that has ever decreased paper work and administrative fees.

Remember Ronald Reagans famous line. “The scariest axiom in the world is I am cherish the government and I am here to help you.”

In theory , national health care insurance sounds extreme. But the government cannot run anything efficiently, the projected cost of national health insurance hovers somewhere around one trillion a per annum, and you are assuming the government will carry these costs under control. Okay – you are allowed to be amused here. The words government and cost control do not belong in the same sentence. Again, name one government program distinguished for its sterling cost control efforts.

You may hate Blue Cross, but they have shareholders they must report to. They have a profit they must make every year. They have an stimulus to keep costs under control. What incentive does the government have to keep costs under control?

The other fundamental problem with national health care is the very judgment that it rests upon. recruits need health care, therefore the government will provide it. Last time I checked, we already had a inner most sector providing health insurance.

Over 40 million Americans cannot afford electricity and something must be done about it. The obvious answer is to have the goverrment take over my local electric company and provide me with electricity. That will teach the electric company two morals. First , do not get into business providing a service people “need”. As with national health care, if the government does not like the job you are doing, they will take you over.

The second lesson. Just like health care premiums, if the electric rates go up too high and the people cannot afford your immersed service, the government can step in, take over, and ensure that everybody has reasonable premiums, I vicious electric rates.

Hmm – government clerks running your health care. And giving the government permission to take over any business sector providing a vital service – electricity, housing, food, gas – just so government clerks can control the costs. Those are two roads I dont want to go bringing up the rear.
